STAFF from the Sheffield offices of insurance company Aviva took time out from the paperwork to join the team at our Crookes shop.
During their time with the charity, the Aviva team gained experience of the sorting operation that sees items given by the public made ready for the shop floor.
And with the Christmas rush fast approaching, there was a greater need than ever to get the donations of clothing, books, CDs, DVDs, household items and bric-a-brac processed.
“Our volunteering session at St Luke’s was a great experience and very different to our usual day job,” said Aviva’s Ellen Ryan.
“It was interesting to hear all the work St Luke’s does for people on end of life and palliative care and also the support they provide to families of those people as well.
“It was great to be working as a team, knowing that we could be helping to make a difference to someone’s life.
“We had a brilliant day and would love to return to volunteer wi8th St Luke’s again in future!”
Our Volunteer Development Manager Francesca Bradshaw commented: “The Aviva team really threw themselves into the volunteering experience.
“Volunteering with the St Luke’s retail team really is a great team building experience and we would be happy to talk to any companies who want to join us and help make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families.”
