Festival of Light 2023

Festival of Light rearranged for Wednesday 20 December 2023, 5:30 - 6pm, St Luke's, Little Common Lane, Sheffield, S11 9NE

We are delighted to announce that we have rearranged our Festival of Light switch-on event to Wednesday 20 December 2023, 5:30 - 6pm and would love you to join us to celebrate the life of someone special.

This comes following the difficult decision to cancel our original launch date on Sunday 3 December due to heavy snowfall, and would like to thank you all for your understanding and kind messages of support. Our teams work hard to be as flexible as possible but one thing that is out of our control is the weather, so we really do appreciate the kind comments we have received.

Please click the link below to let us know whether you will or won't be able to join us by Monday 11 December. Once registered, we will send out more information nearer the date about parking and other event updates.

For those unable to join us, we will be offering to send out a copy of the original event programme which includes the names of each dedication. Please also remember that our lights will be on in the garden throughout the festive period, 4 - 7pm until Saturday 6 January 2024, and the Book of Remembrance available to view in the Chapel at your leisure, as well as online by clicking here.

What can I expect?

Whilst time and supplier availability won't allow us to hold the full event as planned, we hope that you will join us to remember your loved one in our garden as we switch on our lights in a smaller Festival of Light event.

Whilst we won't be able to host food or drink stalls on the night, please join us from 5:30pm for a 6pm light switch-on. We invite you to enjoy light festive refreshments, view our dedicated name boards, light a candle in dedication to those we love and share a moment of reflection.

The evening will once again be hosted by BBC Radio Sheffield Presenter, Paulette Edwards, who will be joined for the official countdown by Michael King, whose wife Michelle was a St Luke's patient.

Dedicate a light to remember someone special

Festival of Light is loved by St Luke's supporters and for many, it is the start of the festive season. It's a time for us all to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of our loved ones.

Please note, you can still make a dedication in memory of your loved one but the deadline has now passed for their name to be included in our Book of Remembrance available to view at the event. Thank you for your understanding.

We are delighted to once again invite you to donate and dedicate a light to your loved one.
