Novice fundraiser Jana determined to complete Home Run

JANA Kukebal admits that she isn’t the most active person…but that’s why she’s determined to join the St Luke’s Hospice Home Run and make a difference for one of the city’s most popular charities.

Home Run is the March virtual fundraising event, a challenge of running just 13 miles to help raise vital funds to help St Luke’s continue caring for hundreds of people across Sheffield, in their own homes.

Regular runners might go the full distance in one run, others might spread the distance over a few days with shorter runs or even walks, making it the ideal event for people of all ages and all abilities.

Jana, who works for digital agency Hydra Creative - keen St Luke’s supporters - concedes that she will probably take the walking approach, supported by husband Eerik.

“In my home country of Estonia, we don’t really have anything similar,” said Jana.

“I know this sort of fundraising event is popular in the UK and I thought it would be a great experience for me.

“I don’t consider myself a runner at all so I think it very likely that I will walk most of it and do my best to do a bit of running.

“The idea was to drive to Scotland and pick a day walk there but if that’s not possible we’ll probably do it much closer to home.”
