BUSINESSMEN and brothers Chris and Nigel Lilleyman have given a special £2,000 gift to our Christmas appeal in memory of mum Judy.
The brothers - directors of city steel stockholders John S Shackleton - have used the money they would usually spend on Christmas gifts for clients to give a major boost to the St Luke’s Christmas campaign.
Mum Judy spent her final days at St Luke’s and the family have since supported the charity wherever possible.
“St Luke’s is obviously very close to our hearts, especially at Christmas when we think about loved ones who are no longer with us,” said Chris.
“We have done fundraising in the past but this year we really wanted to do something special.
“As a business we usually give gifts to customers at Christmas but this year we haven’t been able to visit our clients so instead we have made a £2,000 donation to St Luke’s on everyone’s behalf.
“We believe that if you can make a difference then we should do it in any way possible and it would be great if other companies did the same thing.
“It’s money that would have been spent but we can’t do all the things we would normally do at Christmas so let’s do some good instead.”
St Luke’s Director of Income, Media and Marketing Kathryn Burkitt commented: “This great gift from Chris and Nigel and the whole team at John S Shackleton really does give an incredible boost to our Christmas campaign and we are delighted that they have thought of us at this time.
“For any other company who is thinking of supporting us, we would say that any gift you are able to give will help us to continue caring for patients so they can enjoy their Christmas as much as possible.”
