OUR supporters had their heads in the clouds as they hit the heights for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
The celebrated 26 mile trek takes walkers through the stunning Yorkshire scenery of the Dales National Park, starting with smallest of the peaks, Pen-y-ghent, before going on over 12 hours to tackle the summits of Ingleborough and Whernside, climbing a final total of 1,585 metres!
Even heavy rain, persistent drizzle and low cloud that shrouded the famous triple peaks throughout most of the day couldn’t stop more than 40 walkers from crossing the finish line in less than 12 hours.
And with a special sponsorship package from Yorkshire Windows, the event raised more than £17,000.
“Even on the perfect summer’s day this is a tough challenge – and this was nothing like the perfect day!” said our Fundraising Assistant Karan Taylor.
“Our walkers may have been soaked but they didn’t let the rain dampen their spirits and they were all determined to make it a very special day of fundraising.
“We’ll be back again next year, with more walkers than ever before and hopefully some sunshine!”
