This latest edition of our supporter newsletter, In Touch, coincides with National Volunteers’ Week - a national event which takes place every year between 1-7 June.
The fact that volunteers give so much to St Luke’s is reflected in some fantastic news of which we have just been notified - that St Luke’s Volunteers are to be awarded the coveted Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service! This is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK, and recognises the fantastic contribution of St Luke’s Volunteers who, since 1971, have helped St Luke’s to deliver the best possible care to our patients and their families. Last year alone that amounted to 116,800 hours of time - what an achievement!
We have opportunities for people to volunteer in many ways - supporting patients, helping with administration, within our chain of 14 charity shops, gardening and lots more.
We’re all so proud that St Luke’s Volunteers have been recognised through the Queen’s Award, but we’re so grateful to all our supporters. Together we all help St Luke’s to support so many people and families in need. Thanks for taking the time to read this edition of In Touch – I hope you enjoy reading about everything we’re doing.
