Hospice stars shine in new ITV Yorkshire advertising campaign

27 February 2019
The work of hospices across Yorkshire and the Humber region is being celebrated in a new advertising campaign that launches across the ITV Yorkshire region on March 1.

The advert - the first of its kind for hospices in the region - has been produced collaboratively by eleven centres, including children’s and adult hospices, to raise awareness of the high standard of support now being offered and encouraging supporters to ‘Keep Your Hospice Shining Brightly.’

And the stars of the campaign are the real life nurses, physiotherapists, patients, fundraisers, volunteers, housekeepers, bereaved family members and therapy dogs who help every day to bring hospice care to thousands of people across the north.

Representing St Luke’s are Assistant Practitioner Zoe Reidy and Senior Physiotherapy Assistant Amanda Tagg.

Zoe commented: “Being a part of this campaign has been great. It was a really fun day and a lovely way to meet people whose lives are touched by the kind of work we do.

“From working with patients, we see first-hand how important hospices are so we we’re more than happy to help raise awareness and support for St Luke’s.”

The message of the advert is clear and simple, highlighting that hospices provide expert care, comfort and support completely free of charge to growing numbers of people in the region - and none of it would be possible without the support of their local communities.

Featured in the short film – which will be screened in daytime slots on ITV Yorkshire throughout March – are team members from Ashgate Hospice in Chesterfield, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in Sheffield, Dove House Hospice in Hull, Herriott Hospice in Thirsk, Kirkwood Hospice in Huddersfield , Martin House Children’s Hospice in Wetherby, Prince of Wales Hospice in Pontefract, Saint Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate, St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds, St Leonard’s Hospice in York and St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield.

St Luke’s Chief Executive Peter Hartland explained: “Hospices touch the lives of thousands of people each year and we were keen to get this message out to a big audience.

“Working together with our fellow independent hospices from the region has enabled us to create a professional TV commercial and reach audiences we would individually struggle to reach.

“This is an opportunity to both connect with people who may not know about our work in their area and to highlight that hospices only exist thanks to the amazing support of people in their local communities.”

More information about the campaign will follow this Friday when the TV advert also premieres on ITV.
