TEACHER Faye Draper has raised more than £5,000 for our patient care after she and her family experienced the full extent of palliative care.
“I began fundraising for St Luke’s last year after my dad received end of life care and support at his local hospice,” said Faye, a teacher at Sheffield’s St Marie’s Primary School.
“Losing my dad and seeing the way hospices skilfully support patients and their loved ones through this difficult time made me passionate about fundraising to ensure this service is available for everyone who needs it.”
Initially Faye pledged to raise £1,000 through running events, including the challenging Great North Run.
But as the fundraising bug bit, she went on to arrange a whole range of events including a Gin Masterclass, a clothes swap and simply encouraging her Sheffield friends to start supporting the charity.
