Journey into Christmas past with Bill Kirby and St Luke’s

16 October 2017

CHRISTMAS wouldn’t be Christmas in Sheffield without a scene of the city’s industrial past by much-loved artist Bill Kirby.

Sheffielder Bill’s Christmas scenes – always a snowy reminder of days gone by – are a long-running St Luke’s tradition, one of our biggest selling Christmas cards.

And this year Bill has created a snowy scene of the iconic Wicker Arches as seen from Spital Hill, back in the days of steam trains and Sheffield’s original tram network.

“Every year we are asked if Bill will be creating another of his very special images for us and every year he comes up with something that creates an instant piece of nostalgia,” said our Retail Operations Manager Marie Egerton.

“This year’s card is already selling extremely well and is well on course to be another Kirby classic!”

Bill’s design is one of more than 20 exclusive Christmas cards that are available now from all St Luke’s shops throughout the city or from the hospice reception at Little Common Lane.
