Pathways Academy and Manor Lodge children are Biz Kids champions

27 March 2017

WHEN it comes to great fundraising ideas, the children at Sheffield’s Manor Lodge Community Primary School and Pathways Academy are top of the class!

The talented young entrepreneurs of the future are the joint winners of Biz Kids 2017, the annual children’s business challenge that raises money for St Luke's.

This year saw ten primary schools throughout Sheffield competing, joining forces with the businesses community and working together to raise money for our patient care.

The children’s ingenious collection of money making ideas – sponsored by Carillion - raised a final total of £13,500.

The school who raised the most money was Pathways Academy who managed a final total of £5,079 through a range of activities along with business partner Fletchers Bakery, including a non-uniform day, I’m a Teacher Get Me Out of Here and a weekly tuck shop.

And joining them as champions as the school which met all the campaign’s education objectives was Manor Lodge Community Primary, whose entrepreneurial ideas included a Jump for Joy event and a sponsored five mile walk.

Other schools taking part in the challenge included Woodseats, Windmill Hill, Charnock Hall, St Theresa’s, St Thomas of Canterbury, St Marie’s, Tinsley Meadows and Pye Bank.

“Biz Kids isn’t simply about raising money for a great cause, it’s about building relationship with our next generation of supporters,” said our Community Fundraising Assistant Noni Bryson.

“The children at Manor Lodge, for instance, are now planning on using everything they have learnt as part of Biz Kids to continue to raise money for St Luke’s and will even be producing a record soon.

“Biz Kids is now a firm part of our annual fundraising activities and we’d love to hear from any schools who want to join us next year.”
