THEY stretched, they strained, they sweated…and together they raised an extraordinary £15,630 for our patient care!
Sheffield’s keenest keep fitters signed up for four weeks of intense exercise with nationally acclaimed city boutique fitness club TRIB3’s 28 day sponsored fitness challenge in support of St Luke’s.
And with a final total of £15,630, the TRIB3 team more than tripled the amount they had pledged to raise for our patients.
The challenge was devised by TRIB3 CEO Kevin Yates and city businessman Tearle Phelan.
The club offered 28 fitness sessions for £40 - all of which had to be completed in February at any of TRIB3’s three Sheffield sites in Ecclesall Road, Krynkl at Shalesmoor or The Source at Meadowhall - with participants promising to raise a minimum £100 in sponsorship for the tough endurance challenge.
Each session consisted of 33 per cent high intensity interval training on the treadmill, 33 per cent resistance training on the floor and 33 per cent high intensity floor work and training/pad work.
Participants worked with dumb-bells, medicine balls, resistance bands, kettle-bells, Grapple bags and bodyweight in a series of adrenalin-fuelled sessions aimed at burning off up to 1,000 calories.
“The level of commitment TRIB3 clients have shown to the challenge has been truly inspiring,” said our Corporate Fundraising Manager Jack Kidder.
“This was the toughest fundraising challenge in Sheffield but TRIB3 members proved they have what it takes as they swept past the initial target and then continued to pump up the levels of activity and raise an amount that will make an enormous difference to the lives of all our patients and their families.”
