The farming community of South Yorkshire raised more than £6,000 for our care when they took to the road with their annual Tractor Rally.
More than 70 vehicles participated in the event, a cross country ramble from Storrs Farm Green in Dungworth that passed through Loxley, Stannington, Bradfield and Broomhead before reaching its finish at the Nag’s Head in Loxley.
The rally was held in memory of local farmer Richard Thorpe who, along with wife Ruth and children Martha and Molly, was supported by us when he became terminally ill.
Main sponsors of the event included Bradfield Brewery, Our Cow Molly, Moss Valley Fine Meats and the Nag’s Head.
Farming plant and machinery company Eric Townsend also donated a piece of farming equipment which was one of the highlights of a special auction.
“The Tractor Rally is a brilliantly different way of supporting our care and a final total of £6,209.82 shows just how successful it really is,” said hospice Community Fundraising Assistant Noni Bryson.
“It’s also a way of demonstrating how the many different communities of Sheffield are all supporting St Luke's.”
