Millstone footballers get ready for kick off with Home Run

25 February 2021

THE Millstone Ladies Football Club are using the St Luke’s Home Run to help them get in shape for a return to the pitch.

Home Run is our new March virtual fundraising event - just run 13 miles throughout the month and help raise vital funds to help St Luke’s continue caring for hundreds of people across Sheffield, in their own homes.

Regular runners might go the full distance in one run, others might spread the distance over a few days with shorter runs or even walks - the ideal event for people of all ages and all abilities.

And for the members of the Millstone team, it’s the perfect way to get in training as they look forward to kick off and resuming matches in the Sheffield and Hallamshire Women and Girls’ League.

One of the team members is 24-year-old Stacey Mullee, who is a member of our hospitality team.

“We’re a new football team and ever since we started playing it’s been all stop and start,” she said.

“I suggested we could use Home Run to work on our fitness and also raise some money for St Luke’s at the same time.”

The team will all be completing their own individual 13 mile runs, in line with current social distancing guidelines.

“People think that because we play football it will be relatively easy but when you’re on the pitch you’re thinking about the ball and you’re not thinking about how far you’ve run," said Stacey.

“But it’s going to be a great way to get fit again and we’re all looking forward to being able to say we did it.”
