Without the hundreds of volunteers who give their time freely and with enormous enthusiasm, we could not maintain the services that we provide for our patients and their families.
We were delighted that more than 400 of these very special people were able to join us at our Volunteer Celebration event at Sheffield’s famous Millennium Galleries.
Our guests had the opportunity to take an exclusive look at the Millennium Galleries’ displays as they enjoyed canapes and chatting with friends.
There was also a special presentation featuring several of our volunteers talking about the St Luke’s core values which are compassionate, dignified, inspired and pioneering.
How do we know we are offering our volunteers the best experience? We ask them!
Our 2018 Volunteer Survey was sent out to 753 volunteers and 60% of them responded. The survey indicated that:
89% rated their volunteer experience as 8/10 or above
91& stated they would probably or definitely continue to volunteer
28% have more than five years’ service – a retention rate we are proud of
57% felt volunteering gave them a sense of purpose and 25% said their self-confidence had improved
31% stated volunteering had helped them to develop new social networks
