A TRIO of friends have raised more than £800 for St Luke’s Hospice with a series of successful events.
Cheryl Caskey and Claire Hall-Mellors both work at the Meadowhall branch of kitchenware store Lakeland, where they organise monthly bake sales for charity.
Coronavirus restrictions and lockdown closures meant the sales could not go ahead for the time being, so the friends decided to do some fundraising of their own and organised a raffle.
And then Cheryl’s sewing group friend Siobhan Lougher joined in with a further raffle, bringing the final total raised to a fantastic £1,615, which has been split between St Luke’s and Parkinson’s UK.
“My father-in-law David was a patient at St Luke’s and Claire’s grandma was a patient too so our families know all about how great their work is,” said Cheryl.
“They make people comfortable, they sort their medication and they give them confidence - they are brilliant!”
Claire added: “We were honestly blown away with the amount raised and it’s now gone to two great causes.”
