Fundraising a family affair for book lover Judith and her grandchildren

29 October 2020

FUNDRAISING for their  favourite charities has become a family affair for Judith Singleton and her six grandchildren.

When Judith’s husband Nigel died earlier this year following a short illness, she decided she needed to do something to fill her time.

“To help with the feeling of bereavement and to help keep myself and the grandchildren busy, we decided to start making bookmarks and raise money for a good cause,” said Judith, who lives in Todwick.

And already, the project has raised a fantastic £1,000, which is being split between St Luke’s and Rotherham Hospice.

With grandchildren Ethan, Freya, Lauren, Oliver, Isaac and Hattie joining in, the team have created a wide range of designs, including everything from animal images to local football team emblems.

“Everyone needs a bookmark - in fact, I feel a bit sad for people who say they don’t read books,” said Judith.

“it looks like a lot of people agree with me and I am so happy that we have been able to raise so much for these two charities.”
