Sporting activities and hugs are a fundraising winner for the Drapers

14 May 2020

THE Draper family didn’t just take up one activity when they decided to support St Luke’s and become part of the 2.6 Challenge.

The 2.6 Challenge is the nationwide fundraising campaign designed to support charities whose fundraising revenues have been badly hit by COVID-19.

And for the Drapers, who live in Ecclesall, it was a chance for everybody to do something that suited their own skills.

For nine year old Daisy that meant a 2.6 mile mix of riding her bike and enjoying a run.

Arthur, aged 5, decided that he wanted to do his bit by performing 26 star jumps.

And last but not least, three year old Stanley made his contribution by promising 26 hugs!

With the backing of mum and dad Faye and Tom who supported the children on their fundraising daily exercise session, the family have raised a total of £686.

“We have supported St Luke’s for a few years now and when the 2.6 Challenge came up it gave us a different way to get all the children involved,” said Faye.

“As a family we have experienced hospice care because my father was a patient in a hospice in Lancashire so we know just how important it is to support palliative care.

“It was great that we could do this and have such a good result while socially distancing.”

It’s still possible to support the Drapers by visiting Drapers
