KNITTING needles at the ready…the Netherby Knit and Natter team have raised more than £15,000 for St Luke’s without even dropping a stitch!
The Beauchief crafting and social group started knitting in memory of member Jill Driskell’s son Will, who was a St Luke’s patient as he battled against lymphoma.
It was Will who had actually encouraged Jill to take up knitting and following his death it became a hobby that grew into a successful fundraising campaign.
And in the past years, the group have now raised a fantastic total of £15,263.25 through several annual events such as Christmas sales and Easter Sales as well as a Pimm’s Evening.
“The Netherby Knit and Natter group have become major supporters of St Luke’s since they first picked up their knitting needles,” said our Community Fundraising Assistant Morven Keay.
“Their creativity and enthusiasm really does make a massive difference to the lives of our patients and their families.”
