Her role as St Luke’s Bereavement Services Co-ordinator brings Viv Huckerby into contact with many members of the public.
That’s why she knows the importance of having an annual flu jab and reducing the risk of serious infection.
And because she is also border line asthmatic Viv already knows that something like a bad cold – let alone flu – can have a seriously debilitating effect.
“I’m having the vaccination to protect myself but also because I have a lot of contact with volunteers and relatives through the bereavement support groups that we run at Clifford House and at the Sheffield Quaker Meeting House in the city centre,” she says.
“I wouldn’t want to pass flu onto any of the people I am dealing with and there’s even a chance that if I were that unwell we would be unable to run our usual programme of events.
“People rely so much on our bereavement services and I really would not want to let any of them down.”
