THE region’s top companies are rising to the challenge of supporting two of South Yorkshire’s most popular charities.
The Master Cutler’s Challenge is the annual event which sees businesses sign up to use their entrepreneurial skills and teamwork to make as much money as possible for charity.
This year’s event, headed by Master Cutler Nick Cragg, is raising money for St Luke's and Rotherham Hospice.
And many of the 85 companies participating were present at the launch night at the historic Cutlers’ Hall, where they received the £50 starter investment that they will now have to turn into as much cash as possible.
Launched 12 years ago, the Challenge has so far raised well over £1.5 million for a range of charities.
“The focus of the Challenge will be on the hospices’ community programmes, taking their outstanding work out into the wider community and enabling them to support so many more patients and their families,” Master Cutler Nick explained.
“We are really grateful to Outokumpu, Senior Architectural Systems, Nicholas Associates and Jenkinson Insurance who have generously donated the seedcorn money to allow this to happen.
“We need the Master Cutler’s Challenge 2019 to have as high a profile and visibility as possible but we can only do that with the business community’s support.
“The other part of the Challenge is having fun – in its 12th year we want everybody involved to enjoy making a contribution as they go the extra mile and make a real difference.”
There’s still time to sign up and take part as either a company or individual. To find out more visit Master Cutler's Challenge or call Jack Kidder on 0114 2357594.
