I am doing Night Strider in Memory of my Uncle, John Plowright, who passed away in St Luke’s earlier this year.
St Luke’s was fantastic not only with my Uncle but also with the family; providing support and just being there to offer comforting words.
When he started going to St Luke’s just for an hour or so he would be happy to take his newspaper and do the cryptic crossword in peace. Having this space to go to meant that the family could rest assured he was in safe place. When he became an inpatient they were so accommodating to all the visitors he would have, allowing friends to bring instruments and sing with him. He took a lot of pleasure from singing and St Luke’s supported and encouraged this which was lovely.
As a family we have raised and donated money to St Luke’s since he passed away, to support this much loved and needed space to make those last memories in. We will continue to do this and what better way than to join hundreds of others on Saturday 6 October having fun, smiling and making more memories!
