IT was a simple walk in the beautiful Peak District…and it raised more than £3,000 for our patient care.
When Pam Czabaniuk Hodgkins died at St Luke's last year her friends and colleagues from the Critical Care team at the Northern General Hospital decided to hold a special fundraising event in her memory.
So friend Deborah Fox organised a 12 mile circular walk around the picturesque Peak District town of Bakewell.
And a team of 34 enthusiastic walkers – including colleagues and family members - eventually beat their initial fundraising target of £300, raising a fantastic final total of £3,353.50.
“This was a wonderful way to pay tribute to a friend and colleague who was clearly loved,” said our In Memory Fundraising Co-ordinator Dawn Charlesworth.
“The walkers knew that with every step they took they were doing something special for St Luke’s, ensuring that other people in the future will receive the same standard of care that their friend Pam received during her time with us.”
