Muslim Festival celebrations make a special gift for St Luke’s

28 June 2017

A SPECIAL celebration to mark the Muslim festival of  Eid Ul Fitr at Sheffield’s Jamiat Tablighul ul Islam Mosque in Attercliiffe has raised £1,360 for our patient care.

The event was organised by the family of the late Haji Mohammed Sadique including sons Ghazi and Mahmood and grandson Mohammed Ajmal.

Mr Sadique had been a patient at St Luke's during his fight against cancer and had been impressed by the facilities and standards of care.

Members from the mosque including Secretary Haji Mohammed Ali  and Treasurer Haji  Basharat  Hussain as well as Chaiman Haji Mohammed Saleem and Imam Hafiz Akhtar  were present at the event.

Also present were fellow leading members of the community, including Irfan Chaudhry, Niaz Ali, Abid Hussain and Haji Mohammed Jameel.

The Imam and secretary encouraged the people to donate generously towards the final total of £1,360 and the aim is now to carry on raising and spreading awareness for Sheffield’s only hospice.

Among the members of the Muslim business community who contributed to the event’s success were IQRA Lifestyle Centre in Attercliffe, Pepes Peri Peri of London Road, Firvale MOT Centre, Shipleys Tax Advisors, Trent Law Solicitors,  Prime Pizza of Firvale and  Orchard Pharmacy Mansfield.

“We are delighted that the Bodmin Street Mosque supported us in such a positive way,” said our Community Fundraising Manager Megan Senior.

“We now look forward to building on this extremely important relationship in the future.”
