There was the party, the cake and the cards…but one thing Margaret Dalton didn’t receive as she celebrated her 90th birthday was a gift.
But that’s because she decided it's better to give than to receive – and that St Luke’s should get the present!
Margaret, who lives in Millhouses, asked guests not to buy gifts when they attended a party organised by friend Julie Szurko.
Instead, they were all encouraged to make donations towards our care, raising a final total of £335.
“Margaret has made a huge influence on the people in her life and more than 100 people attended her party,” said our Community Fundraising Assistant Noni Bryson.
“It was a lovely gesture on Margaret’s part that she should share her special day with us in this way.”
