AS weekend plans go, it has to be one of the more energetic ideas…running the equivalent of almost two marathons in just two days.
But before he even sets off on his gruelling sporting challenge, Sheffield man Joe Palmer has already raised almost £200 for our patient care.
Joe is taking part in the 4 x 4 x 48 Challenge, the international sporting and fitness phenomenon popularised by American fitness guru David Goggins.
It means he will be running four miles every four hours or 48 hours, starting at 4am on Saturday March 6 and continuing through the whole weekend.
“I am a runner and I do triathlons so I am relatively fit,” said 32-year-old physiotherapist and lecturer Joe, who lives with wife Kim and son toddler son Zac in Mosborough.
“I’ve been following Dave Goggins on social media and when I heard about the challenge it struck a chord with me.
“We already support the St Luke’s lottery so I know something about the charity and how much it has been affected by Covid.
“St Luke’s is something that everybody in Sheffield knows about and it is something that is really important, looking after people when they reach the end of their lives.
“It’s going to be hard work I know, but it’s going to be worth it because St Luke’s is such a great cause.”
