IT was a case of hair today and gone tomorrow as Lois Sier said goodbye to her long blonde hair and supported two favourite charities.
Lois, who is 10 years old and a pupil at Ecclesall Primary School, had been growing her hair for more than 18 months but after the death of family friend Brett Mortlock she decided to go for a stylish short cut as a fundraising tribute.
Her hair was donated to the Princess Trust, which makes wigs for young cancer patients, while sponsorship money amounting to more than £300 was given to St Luke’s, where Brett had been a patient.
“Lois decided to grow her hair for the Princess Trust after reading about another girl doing it,” said mum Deborah.
“When she started to get a little nervous about the day approaching, we decided to try and get sponsored and donate the money to St Luke’s.
"Brett was an inpatient in St Luke’s for several weeks in late 2017, and received excellent care from all the staff.”
There’s still time to support Lois’s fundraising campaign by visiting Lois
