YOU could say Barrie Chapman had a close shave with fame and fortune after winning £6,000 in our Lottery Rollover.
For 81-year-old Barrie, who lives with wife Mavis in Ecclesall, decided the only thing he needed after his surprise windfall was a new electric razor.
And the rest of the prize will be going to granddaughter Olivia to help her buy a new car.
“Mum and dad were delighted to win such a great prize, especially as they are such keen supporters of St Luke’s,” said Barrie’s daughter Julie Thurkettle.
“As a family we are very close and share everything so when he knew that Olivia was buying a car, there was no question where the money would go.
“The St Luke’s Lottery is a great fun way to support a charity we know and love very well and this fantastic prize came at just the right time.”
It costs just £1 to play the St Luke’s Lottery, with a weekly first prize of £1,000, a second prize of £100 and a hundred £5 wins, along with a rollover that can reach £15,000 before it is called.
