Cyclists use pedal power to raise money on the Way of the Roses

It's a 170 mile trek that tested their cycling prowess…and raised almost £5,000 for our care.

A team of pedal pushers from Sheffield Council and city company Jenx – headed by the council’s Head Of City Centre, CCTV, Markets and Events Richard Eyre – took up the challenge of completing the coast to coast Way of the Roses.

And after being seen off on their travels by Lord Mayor of Sheffield Coun Denise Fox, the team spent three days in the saddle, raising £4,904.99 for St Luke's.

Joining Richard in the challenge were Dave Gill, Jamie Hird, Mark Weston, Paul Booker, Neil Birch, Michael Barlow, Kim Hobson, Laurie Brennan, Monique Longley, Mark Baker, Julie Bullen, Michael McDonald, Daniel Taylor, Gay Horsfield and Andrew Williams.

Corporate sponsors of the event included Kinloch Paving Services, Zooby’s Sandwich Deli & Fairtrade Coffee Bar, SCC Transport Services, Eurobroid and Jenx.

“This was a fantastic achievement and we are delighted that so many people wanted to join Richard to take up the challenge of making a real difference to the lives of St Luke’s patients and their families,” said our Corporate Fundraising Manager Joasia Lesniak.
