Every hero needs a little encouragement as they go the extra mile for a great cause.
And that’s why we're looking for start and finish line volunteers to cheer on our Night Striders as they both set out and head home after a night of raising funds for our care.
Last year we had 1,000 people take to the streets for our first Night Strider, raising more than £100,000.
This year's Night Strider – sponsored by Gripple – will set off from Tudor Square in Sheffield city centre at 7.30pm on Saturday 8 October, with more than 1,000 walkers choosing either a half marathon or 10k route as they head out into the dark in support of St Luke's.
To cheer them on as they set off on their challenge and then reach the finish line back in Tudor Square, we're looking for three teams of enthusiastic volunteers.
“Start and finish line volunteering is really fun” said St Luke’s Fundraising Assistant Victoria Turton.
“Our volunteers will be stationed at Tudor Square and will have the opportunity to cheer on the participants, hand out medals and be at the centre of the fantastic atmosphere on the night.
“Three separate shifts are available between 7pm and 3.30am and it’s a fantastic way to get involved and cheer on our thousand plus walkers.”
