Matt takes his fundraising worldwide for St Luke’s

Matt Williams is taking on three fundraising challenges across three continents in aid of St Luke's, in memory of his dad, as well as close friend, Steve Kirk.

His trio of fundraising adventures spans three continents. In April, he completed the Dalai Lama Himalayan Trek in Asia, before returning to home soil for the National Three Peaks 24-hour Challenge in August. His final challenge will take him to Africa in October, where he will tackle a 90km trek through Kenya with Global Adventures.

Matt’s final chapter in his epic journey will see him trekking for five days from Hell’s Gate to Nairobi, taking on the Great Rift Valley and Mount Longonot, and, in his own words, avoiding getting eaten by the wildlife along the way!

Together, the challenges will see Matt cover well over 150km on foot, across some of the world's most demanding terrain.

And it’s all to raise funds for St Luke’s, where his dad and good friend Steve were both patients at the end of their lives.

“St Luke’s provide excellent and professional end of life care for terminally ill patients, and rely mainly on fundraising and donations to continue to provide this care,” said Matt. “I wanted to try and raise money that can go towards continuing their great work, so other families can have the same care.”

St Luke's In Memory Fundraiser, Isabel Norwood, says supporters like Matt continue to go above and beyond to honour the memory of loved ones while helping others.

“Fundraisers like Matt show the incredible lengths people will go to in celebration of those special to them,” she said. “Every pound raised helps St Luke's continue providing specialist care and support to patients and their families across Sheffield.”

Matt has already raised more than £1,600 for St Luke's through his fundraising efforts, with his final event still to come. You can support him on his JustGiving page at: www.justgiving.com/page/matt-williams-3
