Bereavement counselling
Our qualified counsellors are here to support adults and children after the loss of a loved one who received care from St Luke’s, whether in the Hospice or at home, offering the space to talk, reflect and be heard without judgement.
If you feel it would help to talk, we’re here to listen
Grief is a natural response to loss, and many people manage their bereavement using their own resources and their usual social network. However, this support can decline over time, and opportunities to speak openly about feelings may become limited.
St Luke’s Hospice bereavement service offers a safe space to talk and navigate this most difficult experience, providing counselling and support to families, friends and carers after the loss of a loved one in our care, so you’re never alone in your grief.

Bereavement services for children and young people
We’re proud to introduce our new Children and Young People's Counselling, Bereavement and Art Therapy Service, building on the success of our recent pilot group.
St Luke’s Hospice bereavement services extend to children and young people aged 5-16, providing professional counselling, art therapy and support tailored to each individual’s needs, helping them to express their feelings and begin to move forward.
Our service is delivered by qualified counsellors and art therapists, with support from trained volunteers. For children aged 5-7 and 8-11, we offer age-appropriate group sessions, while young people aged 12-16 can access one-to-one counselling or art therapy.
Through creative activities, peer connection and emotional support, children and young people are helped to understand grief, build resilience and explore their emotions in a safe and compassionate space following the loss of their loved one.
Support children through bereavement
Help us be there for children affected by the loss of someone close to them. Your donation could fund a “Worry Monster” toy to ease anxiety and fears, specialist counselling sessions, or creative materials for expressing grief through art.
