Rare David Bowie vinyls hit St Luke’s eBay

We're calling on David Bowie fans to head over to our eBay store for the chance to own some exceptionally rare pieces of music history.

The collectable items – a rare Japanese exclusive 'Blackstar' 12" single on red coloured vinyl, a limited-edition 'Hours' 12" album numbered and on blue vinyl, and a limited-edition 'The Stars (Are Out Tonight) 7" Record Store Day release single - were generously donated by St Luke’s E-commerce volunteer, Robin Jeeps.

Robin, a superfan of the “Chameleon of Rock” has volunteered with St Luke's since 2024, and in that time has gradually been donating his huge collection of David Bowie records, CDs, books, and magazines. So far, Robin has donated over 200 items, including 30 records, and we have raised over £1,300 from sales of his collection.

The selection of rare and highly sought-after Bowie vinyls currently up for grabs include the 2017 Japanese-exclusive Blackstar single, which was originally available only through the ‘David Bowie Is’ exhibition shop in Tokyo in 2017.

Highlights also include the limited-edition Hours... LP, released in 2015 and restricted to just 2,500 copies, marking the first official vinyl pressing of Bowie’s acclaimed 1999 album, alongside the The Stars (Are Out Tonight) 7" white vinyl Record Store Day single from 2013, which was issued in a limited run of 5,000 copies worldwide and has become a coveted collector's item among Bowie fans.

From cult favourites to exhibition exclusives, these releases showcase Bowie at his most collectible.

“I’ve been collecting Bowie records since the early 1970s and, at the peak of my collection, had more than 500 items,” said Robin. “As I was already volunteering at St Luke’s, it seemed the obvious choice to benefit from the sales.”

“We’ve auctioned more than 200 items so far, with plenty still to come. Some of the most interesting pieces have been held back, so if keen Bowie fans keep an eye on the St Luke’s eBay site, they can be sure to discover something special.”

Commenting on the exciting auction is St Luke’s E-commerce Manager, Shaun Beeden:

“Donations like this are so exciting, and we’re so grateful to Robin for his generous contribution. Every penny raised through our retail chain helps us continue caring for local people and families across Sheffield,” he said.

“Robin is also signed up to Gift Aid with us, meaning that we can claim an additional 25% from the government once the items are sold – at no extra cost to the buyer.”

“If you know any Starman enthusiasts who might be interested in these rare items, please share far and wide to help us reach as many people as possible!”

The auction is open until 8pm on Sunday, 30 August, with plenty of bidding expected before the final call.
