Kath returns to St Luke’s in style thanks to the “Granborghini”
Kath Cottingham made a stylish and meaningful return to St Luke’s, arriving in a Lamborghini affectionately known as the “Granborghini”.
Kath was a patient on our In Patient Centre in 2025, where she received specialist care to manage her pain and bring her symptoms under control. As her health improved, she moved to Outram Fields Care Home, where she now lives.
In June, the care home hosted a fashion show in partnership with Vamp Ladies Fashion Boutique, raising funds for St Luke’s. And when it came time to present their donation, Kath was able to deliver it in person - and in unforgettable style.
Thanks to Mark Cody and his Lamborghini, Kath returned to the hospice with a glass of champagne in hand, showing that no matter your age, there is always joy to be found in life’s special moments.
In 2021, Mark lost his Grandmother to suicide. Since then, he has been on a mission to prevent loneliness and isolation in the retired community.
His aim is to get to know our elderly community, understand their challenges and connect them with likeminded people. All while having a bit of fun and giving them a once-in-a-lifetime ride in the Granborghini!
Mark kindly drove Kath to St Luke’s to hand over the £318 raised, making the visit even more special.
The day was a meaningful one for Kath, as she reunited with members of the hospice team who cared for her. Staff have fond memories of her time there, particularly over Christmas, when her family travelled from Australia to be by her side. She is remembered as an incredible lady who brings a smile to the faces of everyone she meets.
Claire Hoyles, Home Admissions Advisor at Outram Care Home, says she is extremely grateful to both Mark Cody, and St Luke’s, for helping to create these special memories.
“St Luke’s holds a special place in Mrs C’s heart. She previously volunteered for the hospice, and also spent time there as a patient over Christmas before moving to Outram Fields,” she said.
“The visit gave Mrs C the opportunity to reconnect with the hospice team, personally hand over the donation and thank them for the care and support they provide to so many people and families across Sheffield.”
“Thank you to everyone who attended the fashion show, bought raffle tickets and supported the event. Together you’ve helped raise money for an incredible local charity while creating a truly unforgettable day for a lovely lady.”
