Four-year-old London Elise is taking on the Sheffield Mini Run this September to raise money for St Luke's, in memory of her auntie Natasha who received care at the end of her life with leukaemia at just 46.

Taking place on the same day as the Run for All Sheffield 10k, the Sheffield Mini Run offers children aged three to eight the opportunity to join in the fun and complete their own 1.5km challenge.

After her auntie Natasha received support from St Luke’s, London decided she wanted to do something to help the hospice care for other families.

“We wanted this to be something special for London to not only remember and honour her auntie, but also to help her understand that there are people and families facing challenges and may not be as fortunate as ourselves,” says mum Lavern.

“We want to encourage London to always recognise the importance of kindness, compassion and helping others whenever she can,” she continued.

“It’s amazing to see everyone come together to support St Luke’s and it shows how important it is for us to spread awareness of hospice care at such a young age.”

“We hope this experience teaches her that even at a young age she can make a positive difference and that showing care for others is something that should always be part of who she is.”

"This is the first year we have had places for the Sheffield Mini and Junior Run, and we're so excited to have 20 incredible young fundraisers taking part for St Luke's,” said St Luke’s Community Fundraiser Olivia Yates.

"London and all the children involved should be enormously proud of the difference they are making to patients and families across Sheffield. Every step they take and every pound they raise will help us continue providing compassionate care to those who need it most."
