Accounts, Reports and Policies
At St Luke’s, we’re open about how we work, how we’re funded and the standards we follow to provide outstanding care. Here you’ll find St Luke’s policies and procedures, key reports, financial information and assessments of our services.
How we ensure quality and compliance in patient care
We place great importance on the quality of care we provide. Our teams follow clear clinical standards, evidence-based practice and compassionate ways of working that help patients and families feel safe and supported. Internal reviews, external inspections and our own St Luke’s guidelines all help us maintain excellence across our Hospice and community services.
Care Quality Commission (CQC) Key Lines of Enquiry
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator that checks whether healthcare services meet national expectations for safety and quality. These checks are carried out through the Care Quality Commission Key Lines of Enquiry, known as KLOEs.
In April 2024, St Luke’s supplied information to the CQC under its new Single Assessment Framework. This was followed by an unannounced inspection in May 2024. The report, published in November 2024, gives an in-depth overview of how well we’re doing.
Funding our care and maintaining standards
St Luke’s relies on the compassion and generosity of the Sheffield community. Although we receive some statutory support, government funding through the NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group now covers only around 23% of what it takes to run our services.
Of the £15 million needed to deliver our care this year, we must raise over £11 million to keep our services free for patients and their families. This comes from people fundraising for St Luke’s, making donations and buying from our charity shops.
Quality Accounts and Reports
St Luke’s publishes an annual Quality Account, which is shared with the Department of Health and Social Care. It offers a clinically focused overview of our services, including how we are performing, what we have achieved and the areas we are focusing on for the future.
Financial Statements and Trustees’ Reports
Each year, our Trustees publish a formal report and set of financial statements. These documents explain how St Luke’s is governed, how our funds are managed and how we make sure every resource is used responsibly to support patient and family care.
St Luke’s Corporate Policies and Procedures
St Luke’s policies and procedures outline how we work safely, ethically and respectfully. They ensure clear expectations for staff, volunteers and partners, and help us deliver fair, consistent and high-quality care.
The policies shown are stated on our Scheme of Delegation and are approved by our Trustees. Additional policies are available on request.
