Dedicate a light to remember someone special
Festival of Light is loved by St Luke's supporters, and for many, it marks the start of the festive season. As a community we come together to reflect and remember our loved ones.
We invite you to donate and dedicate a light to someone special.
Once we receive your dedication(s), you will be sent your special tribute card which will include your loved one’s name(s), and your light will be added to our online remembrance wall.
Join us at our festival of light event
Sunday 6 December, St Luke’s Ecclesall Road South (S11 9PX)
Once you have made your dedication(s), you will receive an invitation to attend our light switch on event on Sunday 6 December.
New for our 55th year, Festival of Light will be bigger than ever before. Now spanning across both of our sites, featuring more food vendors and a Christmas Market, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
This year, why not arrive early to allow more time to enjoy the extended stalls and entertainment.
Please make your dedication before Thursday 19 November to be included in our Book of Remembrance which will be available to view at the event and online.
11am-4pm, St Luke's Christmas Market Open
Arrive anytime from 11am to visit our new Christmas Market. Enjoy delicious street food vendors and refreshments, hear festive music and entertainment from a range of local performers, and visit our Family Photo Area to capture special memories.
4pm, Festival of Light opens
View our Book of Remembrance, light a candle in memory of a loved one and enjoy a complimentary mulled wine and mince pie. Please be aware that our new entrance is located at St Luke’s Ecclesall Road South (S11 9PX).
6pm, Light switch on begins
A moment to come together to remember loved ones and reflect on special memories. The event is set to finish at around 7pm.
How to get there
First Bus have generously provided us with a free park and ride service which runs between Tesco and St Luke’s. Simply park at Tesco Abbeydale Road, S7 2QB.
The bus service starts from Tesco at approximately 10:45am, running every 12 minutes until around 2:30pm. As we approach the Festival of Light main event, the service will run every 8 minutes from 3pm to 7:30pm.
No waiting about, no long walks and no parking difficulties – just hop on!

Once you have made your dedication(s), you will also receive an invitation to attend our Service of Remembrance on Sunday 13 December, 2-3pm.
Join Chaplain Mike Reeder, members of the Chaplaincy team and hospice staff at Sheffield Cathedral for a special Service of Remembrance - a chance to reflect on the past year and remember loved ones with some special readings and, of course, Christmas music.
This year is extra special as we also celebrate 55 years of compassionate hospice care in Sheffield.
Lynne reflects on 36 years at St Luke's at Festival of Light
Each year, Festival of Light is a moving occasion to come together, remember loved ones, give thanks for the care they received, and, as nurses, reflect on those we have had the privilege to care for as part of one of Sheffield’s most cherished festive traditions.
