Free furniture collections
If you’d like to donate furniture, St Luke’s offers a free furniture collection service across Sheffield. The items you donate are then sold in our dedicated furniture stores, helping fund vital palliative and end of life care.
Book a free furniture collection
To book a furniture collection, please fill in the form below. You can also call our Donation Line on 0114 235 7562 or email donationline@hospicesheffield.co.uk with your contact details, address and a brief description of the furniture items you wish to donate.
Before submitting your enquiry, please read the information on this page about what we can and can’t accept. A scheduled collection does not guarantee we can take your items. Our drivers will make the final decision on the day after reviewing the suitability of your donation.
How it works
Thank you for choosing to donate furniture to St Luke’s. When you request a free furniture collection, we’ll need a few details from you. Our team will then be in touch within 3 working days to agree a collection date.
Please tell us what furniture you’d like to donate and how many items there are. Photos are really helpful, as they allow our team to assess the condition in advance.
Items must be clean, in good working order and suitable for resale. All upholstered furniture must have a fire safety label attached.
You can find a full list of items we can accept further down this page.
We’ll need your full address and postcode, along with details about access. Please let us know about stairs, narrow doorways, parking restrictions, or nearby schools.
All unwanted items must be on the ground floor at the time of collection. For safety reasons, our drivers are unable to collect items from upstairs.
Collections take place between 8:30am and 3pm. Unfortunately, we can’t offer specific time slots, but our drivers will call around 30 minutes before they arrive.
When the team arrives, they’ll check the items to make sure they meet our acceptance criteria. If anything isn’t suitable for sale in our shops, it may be refused.
Please provide your name, address, postcode and contact information so we can confirm your collection. If you’re registered for Gift Aid, please include your Gift Aid number.
What furniture can I donate?
We ask that donated furniture be clean, safe to use and suitable for resale. Items we can’t sell cost us time and money to dispose of, which reduces the funds available for our care. For collections, furniture also needs to be light enough for two people to lift and carry safely.

Drop off other pre-loved items at your local shop
St Luke’s relies on high-quality donations to stock our retail shops and raise funds for our hospice care and support services in Sheffield. While we only book collections for furniture, you can donate other suitable items directly to our shops.
Please check which stores accept which items before donating, as not all shops sell the same product ranges. Thank you for supporting St Luke’s.

The difference your furniture donation makes
Less than a quarter of St Luke’s running costs are covered by NHS funding. As a charity, we rely on the kindness and generosity of people and businesses across Sheffield and local communities to raise the £11m of the £15m needed each year to continue our care.
Our retail chain plays a central role in raising funds for St Luke’s. Thanks to the many incredible people who choose to donate their unwanted items and shop with us, retail currently contributes around £4m every year towards our running costs.
