Spiritual care and support
When normal life is disrupted by illness and loss, our spirituality, or the way we bring meaning and purpose to our lives, can also be disrupted. Whatever your faith, including if you are of no faith, our Spiritual Care Team is here for you.
Get support from St Luke’s Hospice Spiritual Care Team
After the diagnosis of a palliative condition, nothing feels familiar and the future can look scary. You may have worries or questions about your illness, or about your hopes and fears for yourself and the people close to you, and would benefit from talking to someone about it.
At St Luke’s, we recognise that everyone has spirituality, even if not expressed through faith. Our Spiritual Care Team specialises in pastoral care, and we’re here for anyone affected by terminal illness, whatever your beliefs, providing a listening ear and support for your spiritual needs.
We also have a chapel within the Hospice, where you’ll find the Book of Reflections – a dedicated space to share your thoughts and feelings. Patients and loved ones are welcome to use the chapel for quiet reflection or any personal time they may need.
Our team is here to…
Be a compassionate and confidential listener as you process difficult feelings of grief, fear and anxiety.
Support any faith or belief, working closely with community faith leaders and secular organisations when needed.
Extend care and support to your family and friends, including guidance and resources to help children.
Help you and your loved ones cultivate a renewed sense of hope and peace during illness or loss.
Arrange religious and non-religious rituals, including blessings, weddings, end of life rituals and the Sacrament of the Sick.
Offer guidance on practical needs during illness or loss, such as what to do when someone dies and funeral planning.
