St Luke’s Summer Fayre raises over £6,000

It's been one month since our Summer Fayre!

More than 150 people attended St Luke’s Summer Fayre on Saturday 5 September, helping to raise £6,272 for our hospice.

The much-loved annual event was opened to the wider public for the first time as part of our 55th anniversary celebrations. In previous years, the fayre was primarily attended by patients, service users and their invited family members, offering an opportunity to experience our Ecclesall Road South site and Social Prescribing Services.

Visitors enjoyed a range of stalls and shopping opportunities, face painting, hot drinks and picnic boxes. Live entertainment throughout the day included performances from local dance groups and our St Luke’s singing and ukulele groups, alongside an interactive reptile experience and dog show.

The event also featured three 30-minute, fully accessible Walking Wellbeing Tours of the hospice gardens, while members of our team were available to provide information about the care, guidance and specialist support we offer across Sheffield.

Libby Sharpe, Events Fundraiser at St Luke's, said: "Our Summer Fayre was a day to remember, and we're so grateful to everyone who joined us. Their support and generosity helped make the event a huge success.

"Having joined St Luke's in June, the Summer Fayre was particularly special as it was the first event I had the opportunity to lead. I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who took part, volunteered and helped make the day such a success."

Before joining the hospice, Libby was one of the Sheffield Hallam University final-year Events Management students involved in a partnership project with St Luke's, helping introduce students to charity event fundraising.

Volunteers played a key role in supporting the event, assisting with everything from set-up and registration to welcoming and supporting guests throughout the day.

Libby added: "The event reinforced just how special the St Luke's community is and how important fundraising events are in helping us continue to provide our services across Sheffield."

“Every penny raised through the Summer Fayre will help fund the specialist care and support provided by St Luke's.”

55 years of care

As we mark our 55th year, we’re choosing to speak more openly and confidently about the importance of hospice care - what it really is, why it matters, and the difference it makes to families every single day.

For 55 years, St Luke’s has been part of Sheffield’s story. We’ve supported thousands of people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, offering expert care that brings comfort, dignity and choice when it matters most.

This anniversary isn’t about looking back. It’s about making sure this care is still here for the next generation.
