Sheffield Stix charity ice hockey showdown returns for 2026
Sheffield Stix Ice Hockey Club is set to return to the ice this summer with a special charity match in support of two of Sheffield’s much‑loved charities – St Luke’s Hospice and Weston Park Cancer Charity.
The fundraising showdown will see Team St Luke’s face Team Weston Park at Ice Sheffield on Saturday 13 June, with puck drop at 7pm. Fundraising activities will begin from 6pm, including an on‑the‑night raffle and a wheel‑of‑fortune game.
While the teams will be competing head-to-head on the ice, they have one shared goal: raising vital funds for causes close to the hearts of the entire Stix community.
Entry to the charity match is free, with spectators encouraged to give what they can by donating via the club’s fundraising page.
Sheffield Stix Club Coach Matthew Sheridan will be wearing two helmets on the night – leading the team on the ice while also championing the cause as St Luke’s proud Head of Fundraising. He’ll also be hoping to bring home the glory for Team St Luke’s.
He said: “I’d welcome anyone who would like an amazing evening of average hockey to come along and support team St Luke’s as we celebrate our 55th year!”
“Our last charity match in 2024 raised more than £5,000 towards our patient care, and we’d love to surpass that effort this time around,” he continued.
“Every donation, no matter the size, plays a crucial role in ensuring that no one faces their journey alone and that St Luke’s can keep caring for the next 55 years.”
