Ponsford supports St Luke’s with generous furniture donations

Since 2025, Sheffield’s much-loved “home of furniture”, Ponsford, has been supporting St Luke’s by donating excess stock and unwanted furniture to be sold in our shops - helping to raise vital funds for local patient care.

The partnership began thanks to Leigh Northall, Manager of Ponsford’s warehouse in Dronfield. A personal supporter of St Luke’s, Leigh was keen to ensure the charity could benefit from furniture collected from customers’ homes when new items are delivered.

Now, when suitable items are identified, our team visits the warehouse to assess them, before arranging for the pieces to be transferred to one of our furniture shops. There, they are sold as ‘gifts in kind’, generating income that directly supports our care.

What started with sofas and armchairs has grown to include a wide range of items - from wardrobes and desks to dressing tables, bedside tables and beds.

“Since July last year, we’ve really enjoyed working with St Luke’s, and we’re extremely proud to support the fantastic work the hospice does in our community,” said Dronfield Warehouse Manager Leigh.

Emily Cox, St Luke’s Warehouse & Logistics Manager, added: “This relationship is extremely important to us, and we’re so grateful to Ponsford for their support. It’s fantastic to collaborate with such an aspirational brand, and Sheffield icon.”

“The partnership is having a hugely positive impact. By making gifts in kind, Ponsford is helping us make a real difference to our patients and their families.”

Since March 2025, gift in kind furniture donations have raised more than £1,500 towards St Luke’s patient care - with Ponsford playing a significant role in that success.

We're now encouraging other businesses to get involved by donating surplus stock. Good quality furniture, homewares and soft furnishings can all help generate vital funds through our charity shops across Sheffield.
