Abbeydale Miniature Railway sets sights on £20,000 milestone after record fundraising year

Abbeydale Miniature Railway is celebrating a record year of fundraising for St Luke’s Hospice, bringing in £4,321 in 2025 and taking its all‑time total to an impressive £15,800.

The much‑loved Sheffield attraction, run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers, has been a long‑standing supporter of St Luke’s. Each year the Railway raises funds through community events and regular on‑site collections, with volunteers giving their time to keep the railway running and open to families across the city.

Their 2025 total – the highest they have ever raised in a single year – includes proceeds from their annual festive lights event, with all ticket sales and refreshment income donated to St Luke’s. St Luke’s volunteers also supported the evening by collecting donations on the night.

Looking ahead to 2026, the team at Abbeydale Miniature Railway has set an ambitious target: reaching a £20,000 lifetime fundraising milestone, aligning with St Luke’s own landmark 55th anniversary year.

Plans for the year include hosting more collection opportunities and enhancing their popular Christmas event with additional fundraising elements such as a book sale and raffle.

“We are so grateful for the continued support and commitment from Abbeydale Miniature Railway,” said St Luke’s Community & Events Fundraising Manager, Katie Fielding.

“As we mark our 55th anniversary year in 2026, it’s fantastic to see this long‑standing partnership grow as the team sets its sights on a remarkable milestone. Their hard work, community spirit and dedication play a vital role in helping us continue providing specialist care for families across Sheffield.”
