Led by national charity Hospice UK, Hospice Care Week (5 to 11 October) raises awareness of what hospices do and the vital role they play in communities.

This year's theme for Hospice Care Week is "Don't Leave Hospice Care to Chance", highlighting the importance of ensuring everyone who needs hospice care can access it, now and in the future.

why hospice care matters
Hospice care supports people from the point of a terminal diagnosis, while also providing emotional, practical and bereavement support for those closest to them.
This year, St Luke's Hospice will support more than 1,800 patients across Sheffield, while also providing support to thousands of family members, carers and loved ones.
Hospice care is about much more than end of life care. It's about helping people live as well as possible, for as long as possible, with comfort, dignity and choice.
Over 1,800 people receive specialist support from St Luke's each year
73% of our patients are cared for in their own home or nursing home, receiving specialist support in familiar surroundings.
Through our social prescribing and wellbeing services, hundreds of people are supported to improve their quality of life following a terminal diagnosis.

This year, we're bringing Hospice Care Week into communities across Sheffield through a range of activities designed to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions and celebrate hospice care.
Crystal Peaks Takeover
Join us at Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre on 6 and 7 October, where our teams will be sharing information about St Luke's services and answering questions about the support available across Sheffield.
Shop Window Displays
Look out for special Hospice Care Week displays in our charity shops across the city, helping spread key messages about hospice care and celebrating 55 years of care in Sheffield.
