You may have recently heard about the national hospice funding debate to address the staggering £77 million funding deficit reported by Hospice UK on BBC News.
UK hospices, including St Luke’s, are feeling the crippling impact of rising costs and the cost of living crisis. Government funding only covers 23% of our running costs. As a charity it means we need to raise over £11 million of the £15 million it will cost us this year to provide our vital services for Sheffield families.
St Luke’s support Sheffield families when a terminal diagnosis has turned their life upside down. We can’t change their diagnosis, but we work incredibly hard to provide comfort and support throughout their journey. We’re passionate about the care we give and are determined to continue this for future generations. A monthly donation will help us keep caring for the people of Sheffield.
The difference your donation could make
We are dedicated to ensuring that individuals and their families receive the best possible care and support during some of the most difficult times of their lives. From symptom management and pain relief to emotional and spiritual support, our team of highly skilled professionals work tirelessly to meet the diverse needs of our patients and their loved ones.
At any one time we are caring for around 350 people in their own home or a care home across Sheffield.
This year alone we need to raise more than £11 million of the £15 million it costs just to carry on doing what we do.
Each year, we support nearly 1,800 patients and their families and carers.

My wife, Anita, was a wonderful person. She was kind, selfless, caring and compassionate. She enjoyed living life to the full and still had so much to look forward to, but she was diagnosed with cancer in 2022.
