Raven’s short cut to fundraising success

RAVEN Wild enjoyed the experience of a charity head shave so much that she waited three years…and then did it all again!

As an unusual 11th birthday celebration, the shears came out again and the hair came off as the Wybourn Primary School pupil raised a total of £706  in sponsorship for our patient care.

“The first time she did it, she went for a short bob and she enjoyed it so much that she said she was going to grow her hair out and do it all again,” said mum Rachel.

“It’s taken her nearly three years to get it to a good length and this time she wanted it to be cut as short as possible.”

In addition to raising money for St Luke’s, the discarded hair has been donated to the Little Princess Trust, the charity that provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

“Raven really wanted to support a charity that helps people with cancer and when we looked at St Luke’s we saw that they not only help the person who is ill but their families too and that really appealed to us,” said Rachel.

“She wasn’t bothered about it being her birthday at all - she just wanted to get her hair cut and raise some money.

“I was proud of her the first time she did it three years ago but this time I really was in tears at what she’s achieved.”
