MORRISONS at Meadowhead made a very special delivery for our patients as part of their new campaign to support charities through the Covid-19 pandemic.
The supermarket chain has pledged to distribute £10 million worth of food to food banks and charities during the coronavirus outbreak.
And our own Ian Blenkinsopp was on hand when Morrisons Meadowhead community champion Lucy Gibson and colleague Lianne Harness arrived with a first donation.
Among the items in the special delivery were such kitchen staples as bread, pasta, tinned tomatoes, cheese, ham, rice pudding, custard, rice, noodles, tea bags and hot chocolate.
“Each store gets part of that £10 million every week to distribute to different food banks and charities,” said Lucy.
“I’m local to St Luke’s and I have had somebody in St Luke’s so it is a place that has a very special place in my heart.
“They do a great job and we are very happy to do anything we can to support them through this time.”
Our Corporate Fundraising Manager Jack Kidder commented: “It is fantastic to see how keen the business community is to support us at this very difficult time.”
“We want to thank Morrisons so much for this extremely important donation and we look forward to their continued support.”
