ONLY an April Fool would think that the best time to make a Will is some time in the future.
Yet research suggests that as many as two thirds of adults in the UK have not prepared a Will, meaning that their estate may not be distributed as they hope when they die.
That’s why 12 Sheffield law firms are taking part in April’s St Luke’s Will Month, encouraging people across the city to make a Will and support our patient services at the same time.
Participating firms include Banner Jones, Bell and Buxton, Best Solicitors, Graysons, Irwin Mitchell, Keebles, Norrie Waite and Slater, Taylor Bracewell, Coates, Foys, Wosskow Brown and Rosalind Watchorn.
The idea is simple – the participating solicitor of your choice draws up a basic Will in return for a donation to St Luke’s.
Suggested minimum donations are £100 for a single Will or £150 for a joint Will, with a £75 suggested charge for a basic amendment.
“Making a Will is the only way you can be sure that your wishes are carried out and your loved ones are provided for after your death,” said our Corporate Fundraising Manager Jack Kidder.
“By making a Will as part of St Luke’s Will Month, you’ll be getting great value for money, at the same time as supporting our patients and their families.
“You may also wish to consider leaving a gift to St Luke’s no matter how big or small, although this is not a condition of the scheme. Just ask your solicitor for more details.”
