WHEN Jack Kidder announced he was popping out to the shops, we didn’t realise he had something other than retail therapy in mind!
For our Corporate Fundraising Manager spent a full day running round 13 of our 14 shops city wide – only missing out on a trip to Stocksbridge because of some dodgy Google Maps directions.
Jack set off from our shop at Crystal Peaks at 8.30 am and arrived back at his St Luke's office in Whirlow just after 5pm after a journey of 32 miles.
Along the way he took in Gleadless, City Rd, Firth Park, Chapeltown, Hillsborough, Crookes, Broomhill, Ecclesall Road, two shops in Nether Edge, Woodseats and Abbeydale Road.
It was all part of a year-long campaign of personal fundraising that is seeing Jack completing 280 miles of running by participating in everything from Park Runs to major marathons, the most recent in York.
“As the Corporate Fundraising Manager for St Luke’s I think it is essential to do what I can to support our incredible work in my own personal capacity,” Jack said.
“I turned 28 in January and am running 280 miles of running events throughout 2018 to try and raise £2,800 for St Luke’s.
“This plan has involved running Park Runs, the Totley AC Fell Running Series, Half Marathons, a Marathon and even an Ultra Marathon.
“The shops challenge was tough but very rewarding - I met some amazing volunteers and managers along the route, saw some lovely sights - and got very tired legs!”
