Syringe Driver Training
Course description
This is a comprehensive, face-to-face 2 hour Syringe Driver training course focused on the safe and effective use of the Bodyguard T Syringe Driver.
To meet varying training needs, we host separate sessions for:
Nurses new to the Bodyguard T device, and those requiring a refresher update
Designed for Registered Nurses working in Nursing Homes or Dual Registered Care Homes with Nursing Staff, this course provides practical, hands-on learning alongside key theoretical knowledge.
Participants will develop confidence in setting up, operating, and monitoring the syringe driver, as well as understanding best practice, troubleshooting, and ensuring patient safety in line with current standards.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to
Understand the purpose and clinical use of the Bodyguard T Syringe Driver
Safely set up and programme the device in line with best practice guidance
Demonstrate correct procedures for preparing and administering medication via a syringe driver
Monitor patients effectively and identify potential complications
Troubleshoot common issues and alarms associated with the device
Apply infection prevention and control measures during use

Course facilitators
Our Syringe Driver Courses are delivered by two highly experienced Project ECHO nurses who have extensive backgrounds in both palliative care and healthcare education. Throughout their careers, they have supported patients with complex palliative and end-of-life care needs while also providing training and guidance to healthcare professionals across a variety of settings.
As part of their roles within Project ECHO, they have worked closely with local care homes, nursing homes, and supported living services, helping staff to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to provide high-quality palliative and end-of-life care. Their practical experience and passion for education ensure that learners receive relevant, evidence-based training that can be applied directly to clinical practice.
Payment terms
All course fees must be paid prior to attendance. Standard payment terms are 30 days from the date of invoice, or before the start of the course if the course date falls sooner.

Please note that once a booking has been made and payment received, course fees are non-refundable.
