Join us for St Luke’s Sustainable September! This month, we’re shining a spotlight on the importance of sustainable shopping and how choosing pre-loved items can make a big difference—not just for the planet, but for our patients and their families as well. By shopping in our stores across Sheffield, you’re not only making eco-conscious choices but also contributing to the vital care we provide.

What is Sustainable September?

Throughout September, we’ll be actively promoting our retail shops to raise awareness about the benefits of shopping sustainably and cost-effectively. We’re inviting our community to embrace second-hand shopping and share their amazing St Luke’s finds with us on social media. Whether it’s a stylish outfit, a unique home accessory, or a vintage treasure, we want to see how you’re making sustainable choices!

Shopping pre-loved is better for the planet

Not only does it support our care services, but it also promotes ethical shopping and sustainable fashion. Our shops sold over 1 million kilograms of clothing last year, diverting items from landfills and reducing CO2 emissions by over 13 million kilograms.
To protect our planet, we need to rethink our shopping habits—moving away from fast fashion and disposable trends and embracing more sustainable choices like second-hand shopping.

Shopping pre-loved is better for your money

Buying second-hand isn’t just good for the environment; it’s also great for your wallet! In these challenging times, finding ways to save money is more important than ever, and charity shops offer incredible value. You never know what hidden gems you’ll discover while browsing through pre-loved items, making it a fun and budget-friendly way to shop.

Shopping pre-loved is better for our hospice

Last year, our charity shops raised almost £3.9million towards our patient care costs – meaning every item donated, gift aided or bought in our shops has a big impact for St Luke’s. Every purchase you make in our shops directly supports the essential care we provide to patients and families in Sheffield. Your shopping truly makes a difference.
